Concrete Resurfacing Cost in Sydney: Driveways, Paths & Pools

If your driveway, path or pool surround is solid but tired, stained or cracked on the surface, resurfacing it with spray-crete is usually far cheaper than breaking it out and pouring new concrete. Here's what it costs and what moves the price.

As a rough example, a 40 m² driveway starts from around $2,600. The written quote after the free site visit is the price you pay.
What changes the price
Cracks and repairs. Cracks are cut out and repaired before anything is sprayed. A slab with a few hairline cracks costs less than one with wide or many cracks.
The surface underneath. Old paint, sealers, oil stains or pebblecrete need more preparation than plain concrete.
Pattern and colour. A stencil or slate pattern takes a little longer than a plain finish.
Size and access. Small areas cost more per square metre because setup is the same. Steps, edges and tight side paths take extra hand work.
Resurfacing vs replacing
Replacing a driveway means breaking out the old slab, carting it away, forming up and pouring new concrete. Resurfacing skips all of that: the existing slab stays, so there's no demolition, far less mess and the job is usually done in 2 to 3 days. You can drive on a resurfaced driveway after 48 to 72 hours.
Resurfacing only makes sense if the slab is structurally sound. If it's heaving, sinking or badly broken up, a coating won't fix that, and we'll tell you honestly at the assessment.
How long it lasts
On a driveway, spray-crete typically lasts 10 to 15 years, with a reseal around year seven. Resealing is a quick, inexpensive job and it's what keeps the colour from fading.
